Is it too much to assume that I will be able to play e-drums naturally and record myself with minimal hassle or should I expect a bit of a learning curve and some handicaps for getting this going? I don't know what kind of standards you bring to the table. They make all the difference between "Wow, this is awful" and "It may not be a miked kit precisely, but it is well worth it for all the convenience." Whatever route you choose, the quality of the samples and the playback mechanism are key. I got Kontakt specifically to use SSD, then found that I really liked it as a sampler, so bonus to me. Kontakt and Reaper play very nicely together. I don't want to turn this into an advertisement for SSD, but it really is (in my opinion) that good. There are varying degrees of "processed" for each hit as well, user-selectable. "Machine gun" is nowhere to be found due to the 4 round-robin samples for each hit. Then I got the Steven Slate samples and all of a sudden it was /really/ good - as in "I will never need more than this" good. EZDrummer works right out of the box with the TD3 and I thought it was pretty good.

I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination, so my standards may be lower than others. Rich - I have been exceptionally pleased (and somewhat surprised) by how well it has all worked out. Apparently the TD3 is set up to automagically assign note numbers from those two settings: -4 from Open Hi-hat Edge (26) gives Closed Hat Edge (22) -2 from Open Hat Bow (46) gives Pedal (44), -2 from that gives Closed Hat Bow (42). Refine as you see fit - it seems to work well enough for me.Īs an added bonus for the effort of going through all the neccessary pieces of the Kontakt kit, I was able to make specific Z1 and Z3 (with Z4s left in place for each) kits individually (no need for keyswitch for actual performance) which cuts down on load time and memory usage nicely.īevosss - They are just the default (I went back and checked) which are 26 for edge and 46 for bow. The TD6 kit the guy put up starts all the (slightly)closed between 65 and 127, and the (slightly)open between 0 and 64. Getting that (you can find it in the Kontakt section, I think) is a good starting place.īasically the idea though is to gate group start based on CC4.

EZDRUMMER MIDI REALLY LOUD GLITCH SERIAL NUMBERS

I was looking for a version of the Dream kit for TD3, so I took what he had put up, filed off the serial numbers and tweaked a bit for my own satisfaction. Some guy on the Slate forums put up a version of the Beefy Dry kit for TD6. I posted this exact question on the Slate forum and got no answers, apart from Steven saying it 'should work easy' (!).so if you have the answers, please spill.Įasy - I cheated. Rick, can you tell me how exactly you got the hats triggering correctly in Kontakt? Did you have to muck around with CCs or something?

EZDRUMMER MIDI REALLY LOUD GLITCH SOFTWARE

I still use the Roland sounds for some recording but overall I feel the software does a better job of recreating the acoustic sounds/enviroment. I think the combo of the roland triggering and the ability of the software to have larger sound files makes for an unbeatable system. I can always tell when I hear the Roland TD set recorded but the software is harder to tell from a real acoustic set. I think due to the fact that the software can use bigger and more samples it sounds more realistic. Then EZDrummer came along And I liked it and the Nashville,Claustrophobic,DFH and Retro EZX's cause I felt they sounded a little more realistic than the TD20s. But I bought Battery 3 first cause I wanted some more sound options after hearing some of it's weird sampled kits online. I am a total synth/VST tweaker and this is my 5th electric set in the past 20 years. We use them and I have no probs with the midi. There are plenty of ways to get killer drum sounds with the TD-20 If you have the TD-20 why do you need EZ drummer?
